outoftownfilms:

Hey Philly friends. We just wanted to let you know about the house show we’ll be hosting in October. The lovely SoKo will be playing a special performance in our living room where several of our sessions have been filmed. We would love to have you come hang out so please do. Find all the details over at the Facebook event page.

xmrstreetteam:

There are many Xtra Mile Recordings artists hitting the road in the UK, North America and Europe and you can check out a full round up of their plans here: http://bit.ly/1CizWCp

If you already have tickets to an upcoming show of theirs, send me an email with the subject line “Wristbands” and I’ll try to send some XMR wristbands and stickers your way. But then… What do you do with them?

  • First of all, go ahead, keep a few for you!
  • Bring the rest with you to the concert you’re planning to attend
  • Hand the bracelets/stickers out to your fellow fans in the queue before going into the show, or to them as you’re all leaving at the end of the night. Try not to do too much during the show, some venues / security don’t like it!
  • Take PHOTOS of the people you give the stuff out to. At least four photos for now. This can include ~action shots~ that maybe a friend can take to help you out - photos of you in the act of passing them out and people taking them.
    • If someone questions why you need the photos, just say you’re on a street team and you need proof that you did your job! Folks are usually happy to pose for you.
  • After the show email me those photos and a few sentences about the experience. Were people happy to get free stuff? Were they confused? Did you explain it was stuff from the bands record label? Do you think something like this would work again? Would you be willing to do it again?
  • If this test goes well, we might be able to give you guys free tickets in the future in exchange for your work passing out some swag! EXCITING!

The photos of fans with swag above are examples of what I’ve taken when I street teamed in the past to show what I’m looking for from you. Remember that people love free stuff, and usually will love to show their new goodies off for you!

PLEASE NOTE: You must be already signed up for the XMR Street Team to participate! Sign up here.

If you’re around the Philadelphia area, come to this! It’s an event at the Institute of Contemporary Art open to students and the public. We currently have a retrospective up of work by the queer artist (and half of Ridykeulous) Nicole Eisenmann, a painter who has received a Carnegie Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and inclusion in two Whitney biennials. Moreover, the Free For All will include many exciting activities.
Wednesday, Oct. 1st from 6:30pm-9pm. 118 S. 36th Street, Philadelphia, PA.
